Mebane Maker’s Market

The Mebane Maker’s Market is a monthly curated craft market that takes place  first Saturday of every month May – September, except July. Artists and crafters of all mediums are encouraged to apply. Limit 40 spaces per market. Fee $30 per market or $120 for all dates.

Dates: May 6th, June 3rd, August 5th, and September 2nd.

Lantern festival

THANKS TO ALL WHO CAME OUT AND MADE LANTERN FEST A HUGE SUCCESS! OVER 400 LANTERNS WERE SAILED OUT ON LAKE MICHAEL FOR A STUNNING SIGHT. THANKS ALSO TO THE DJ, VENDORS, AND FOOD TRUCKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT, AS WELL!!!!!  

Join us for the second annual Lantern Festival at Lake Michael Park! Destination Downtown Mebane, the City of Mebane Parks and Recreation and the Mebane Trail Rangers have partnered to host a fun evening of nature, whimsey, art and music just in time for Mother’s Day. Purchase a lantern kit from participating downtown businesses, decorate it, and join us for a magical evening as we release the lanterns into Lake Michael at 8 p.m. on Saturday April 29th 2023 (Rain Date May 7th). Participants are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy vendors, food trucks and live music at scenic Lake Michael prior to the lantern launch. The festival runs from 5p-10p.

The Lantern Festival is a family friendly community event held at Lake Michael. It’s evening full of fun designed to create memories that will last a lifetime. Join us and sail your lantern into the evening light, music, food trucks and local vendors. (And, yes, we use non-flammable lights and clean up everything after ourselves. We treasure our community!) 

Dates: April 29th (rain date May 7th)

Time: 5:00pm to 10:00pm

Location: Lake Michael; 7300 Lebanon Road, Mebane

Lantern kits are on sale. Lanterns are $10 or 5 for $40. Each lantern kit includes:  waterproof lantern bag, battery-operated tea light, and one marker to decorate your lantern.

Scan the PayPal QR code at each participating business to pay online.

Whether you enjoyed your prom the first time around or not, this is a night to get a prom do-over. Did you sport big hair, a powder blue tuxedo, something in gold lame, a band graphic tee with fashion jeans, or something entirely different. Look back in time and wear the fashions of the years of your proms (or whatever is your favorite). Bring your partner and have an excellent prom night.

Destination Downtown Mebane 3rd Annual Golf Tournament 

Destination Downtown Mebane’s Third Annual Golf Tournament will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, September 16th at Quaker Creek Golf Course in Mebane, NC. This is a Captain’s Choice, shotgun style tournament. Lunch will be provided and a beverage cart will be available. There will be raffles, free swag, and other team prizes. Join us for a day full of golf, sun, and fun!

AutumnFest

Please join us in Downtown Mebane on Saturday, October 7 (rain date October 8) for our annual fall vendor fair featuring handmade items from local artisans. There will also be free activities for kids, contests, live music, and the return of Mebane’s outdoor Beer Garden! Be sure to follow our event for any updates and sneak peeks at all of our vendors, you don’t want to miss it!

Chili Cook Off

We are getting excited for Destination Downtown’s Chili Cook Off! Where YOU get to vote on the best chili cooked by Downtown Mebane’s participating local businesses! This year we’re kicking it up a notch. For a reasonable entry fee, community members will be able to enter their best chili recipe, too!!

Please stop in Friday, October 27 to each participating business and individual’s table and taste their delicious chili and VOTE! Entrants will be marked with balloons and maps will be available. We also welcome shoppers! It’s a great time to shop while you’re downtown and get a head start on the holidays.

Hometown Holiday Celebration

Join us in downtown Mebane, NC for an old-fashioned holiday celebration on Saturday, November 18th (rain date November 19th) from 3:00-8:00 PM. There will be a wide variety of local artisans and craft vendors, live music, food trucks and much more!
We’ll have a variety of Holiday Stations such as:
* Ornament making* Cookie decorating
* Letter writing to Santa and roasting marshmallows
* Story telling
* Visit with Santa and the Mrs.
* Holiday movie night
Come on down and enjoy this event that’s fun for the whole family and a great way to start off the holiday shopping season.

Ho Ho Holiday Bar Crawl

Baby, its cold outside so come on in and get toasty! Join us on Saturday November 18th from 5p-10p for our second annual Ho Ho Holiday Bar Crawl to accompany our Hometown Holidays Celebration! Registration is $10. All participants will receive a commemorative cup available for pickup at Clay St. Tavern. 

Participating locations will be announced.

A blindfolded cookie decorating competition will take place at Clay St Tavern at 8 p.m.
