DESTINATION DOWNTOWN MEBANE 2007 ANNUAL REPORT
MISSION AND MEMBERSHIP Destination Downtown Mebane is a voluntary organization of Downtown businesses that work together to promote the continued revitalization of historical Downtown Mebane and offer
special events, products and services to Mebane and the surrounding communities. We operate on a very limited, but creative, shoestring budget funded primarily by annual membership
dues.
COMMUNITY EVENTS Destination Downtown Mebane sponsored and promoted the following community
events and the City of Mebane extensively throughout North Carolina. Spring Shoppers Stroll (March) Sunfest ~ A Hometown Family Fun Day (August) Autumn Fest (October) A Hometown Holiday Celebration (November)
DOWNTOWN EVENT CARDS Designed, printed and distributed 4,000 cards publicizing 2007 events.
DOWNTOWN MEBANE MAPS Designed,
printed and distributed 10,000 maps to visitors, businesses, and non-profit locations throughout Alamance and surrounding
counties.

DOWNTOWN MEBANE WEBSITE Published April 2007.
The website received over 3,300 unique visitors from May-December 2007.
DOWNTOWN INFORMATION BOOTHS Volunteers staffed booths and distributed information about Downtown Mebane to visitors
during the following events. Dogwood Festival (April) Annual
Occaneechi Pow-Wow (June) Cycle NC (October)
FARMERS
MARKET (JULY-AUGUST) Volunteers checked-in farmers each Saturday morning.
BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT Purchased 20 large decorative pots to be placed in various Downtown locations.
DOWNTOWN
IMPROVEMENTS At the suggestion of Destination Downtown members, the City installed two new Downtown signs (corner
of Center & Fourth Streets and intersection of Mebane Oaks Road & Hwy. 119 North) and
added three crosswalks in the central business district.
